Centre for Youth and Development is Girl Effects partner in Malawi implementing the Technology Enabled Girl Ambassadors Project. TEGA is a smart phone based, peer-to-peer research product that enables girls to gather safer, faster, more scalable and authentic research into hard to reach communities than ever before.
It is Girl Effect’s solution to reaching developing world communities and gaining accurate insight into their lives. Girls in poverty aged 18-24, living in the communities we need to understand, are trained in 3 months via bespoke smart phones to become qualified interviewers – and become ‘TEGAs’. The TEGA app allows us to send surveys to TEGAs, so that they can conduct research and send the findings back to a multi media content hub that translates, then houses the data and instantly analyses it programmatically.
