Centre for Youth and Development (CYD) was founded in 2012 as the result of the commitment of James Gondwe in addressing the challenges that children, youth and women face in Malawi. Today, CYD has become one of Malawi’s major non-governmental development organizations.
In 2010, James Gondwe aged 24, shared a vision of a prosperous Malawi, and established CYD in response to growing challenges that Children, Youth and Women face in Malawi.
James believed that everyone including children, Youth and Women had the capabilities to develop to their fullest potential and contribute to National Development.
In 2010, CYD started work in the Central Region District of Dowa and expanded to other Districts in Malawi, strategically locating its head office in the Northern Region City of Mzuzu.
